1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon sesame oil
Rub:
1/2 tablespoon Chinese 5-spice powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons garlic salt
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Vegetables:
2 cups cucumber, grated
2 cups carrots, peeled and grated
1 cup daikon (Japanese white radish), peeled and grated
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Sandwiches:
6, 8-10-inch long individual baguettes, cut in half
3-4 jalapeño chiles, sliced, optional
1 cup fresh cilantro
Mayonnaise:
2/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon hot chili sauce (your choice)
