Blue Ribbon Recipe

Oh so smoky and full of flavor, this is delicious grilled chicken. The sauce is sweet and tangy with a slight kick. It's the perfect complement to the chicken. The skin gets slightly caramelized and crisp. Inside the meat is nice and juicy. A tasty way to serve grilled chicken.

How To Make papa's grilled chicken with a twist

Test Kitchen Tips
If the temperature gets too hot while grilling, slightly prop open the lid until it comes to temperature.
  • Drying chicken pieces.
    1
Wash and pat dry your chicken. Cut into pieces and set aside.
  • Butter, margarine, Worcestershire sauce, A-1 sauce, garlic powder, smashed garlic, and chipotle pepper in a saucepan.
    2
In a small saucepan, melt together 1 stick of butter and 1/2 cup of margarine. Add 1/2 cup of Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 cup A-1 sauce, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1 smashed clove fresh garlic, and 1 chipotle pepper to the butter mixture.
  • Sauce simmering on the stove.
    3
Bring this mixture to a boil. Quickly reduce to a simmer for about 15 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  • Preheating the grill.
    4
Set your grill to medium heat.
  • Pieces of chicken placed on the grill.
    5
Put the chicken pieces on the grill skin side up and baste the chicken with the sauce. Close the lid to the grill keeping the temp between 350-375 degrees.
  • Basting the chicken as it cooks.
    6
Flip the chicken every 15-20 minutes and basting it every time you flip it. Baste the chicken with the sauce from begging to end of cooking time, rotating & flipping chicken pieces every few beers you drink. Your chicken should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour to cook or until the thickest part reaches 165 degrees.
  • Grilled chicken resting.
    7
Let the chicken rest 10 minutes before cutting it. Be safe, eat well, have fun!
