pecan delight baked french toast
(16 ratings)
This is a very rich breakfast and very, very delish. You really won't need syrup to enjoy. It's so easy to make the night before and pop into the oven the next morning. This is also a wonderful brunch dish or dessert for something different.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Colleen is right.... no syrup is needed for this delicious French toast casserole. The brown sugar mixture melts and makes its own syrup. There's a bit of tang from the cream cheese. We tried it with French vanilla creamer and hazelnut - both tasted fantastic. So good and sweet, you could probably pass this off as a dessert. Serve with a little whipped cream and a cup of coffee for a special breakfast treat.

How To Make pecan delight baked french toast
Test Kitchen Tips
We could not find thick bread. Regular worked fine. If you can't find the honey nut spread, use a regular cream cheese spread mixed with in 1 1/2 Tbsp honey and 1/2 Tbsp chopped pecans.
-
1Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
-
2Spread each slice of bread with a light layer of cream cheese and place in the dish.
-
3In a separate bowl, melt the butter and brown sugar. Set aside.
-
4In another bowl, mix the cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs, salt, and creamer. Pour over the bread. Top with the brown sugar mixture.
-
5Sprinkle the pecans over the entire dish. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
-
6The next morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Keep covered and bake about 45 minutes.
-
7Cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar.
