Ingredients For diy homemade laundry detergent
-
1/3-1/2bar kirk's castille soap (also fels naptha and original ivory soap work well)
-
1 cborax powder
-
1 carm & hammer super washing soda
-
3 galwater
How To Make diy homemade laundry detergent
-
1First, shred Fels Naptha soap as shown in picture
-
2Run 1/2 cup borax, 1/2 cup washing soda and shredded soap through food processor for about 1 minute. It should look like lemonade powder mix when its ready!
-
3Add all ingredients to pot, add as much water as your pot will hold (I got an old used stockpot from a thrift store to strictly use for making my soaps!) So don't worry if your pot doesn't hold 3 whole gallons of water!
-
4Bring to a complete rolling boil for about 30 minutes. Turn off heat and let cool just a little.
-
5Once it is cooled just a bit, pour equally into three 1 gallon glass jugs (if you only have plastic, cool longer)
-
6Add hot tap water to fill remainder of jugs, do this slowly as it foams when you add water! Let completely cool, I set them on the floor in my laundry room for 24 hours
-
7I don't remember where I got this gallon jug with the pump from but 1 squirt from it is all I use per large load of laundry! Shake container before use, this does separate some. Also, you can use and old laundry detergent jug and just refill it with this soap! Remember when refilling this into another container it suds up so fill slowly!! 3 gallons last us about 12 months, that is a family of 7! You can also use a few drops of your favorite essential oil in each jug to make it smell pretty!
