This is a recipe for dog bones that I got to make for Hans and Fritz, since I couldn't find the original recipe...

Ingredients For dog bones for hans and fritz (duplicate)

  • 3 1/2 c
    flour
  • 3 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1 c
    cornmeal
  • 1/2 c
    slim dry milk **
  • 1 pkg
    dry yeast
  • 3 c
    lukewarm chicken or meat stock **

How To Make dog bones for hans and fritz (duplicate)

    Dissolve yeast in chicken broth. The richer the broth the better. Let mixture set 10 min. Stir in remaining (combined 1st), roll dough 1/4" thick. Cut with dog biscuit cookie cutters. Brush with egg wash. Bake on greased cookie sheets 45 min at 300 degrees. Turn off oven and leave overnight to finish hardening.

    NOTE: I made a double batch, and omitted the egg wash. I used low sodium chicken stock from GFS (it had the lowest sodium content). Make sure to use lowest sodium or no MSG because it isn't good for dogs.
