turkey and stuffing casserole
One day I was thinking about Thanksgiving and how much I was looking forward to the turkey and stuffing. It was the middle of summer and I wasn't about to be a whole turkey, so I decided to try a casserole. I bought some turkey legs and a box of stuffing and voila, it tastes like Thanksgiving. If desired, you could also make the stuffing the way you like. Be creative. Add oysters, chestnuts, sausage, or whatever you like in your favorite stuffing.

If you're serving a Thanksgiving meal out of season or need to use turkey leftovers, this casserole is for you. Shredded turkey is mixed with stuffing and turkey gravy. The tender and juicy turkey complements the savory stuffing. The turkey gravy adds another layer of flavor and moisture to the casserole. We used turkey legs, but any meat from a turkey can be used. This easy meal could also be an alternative Thanksgiving dinner.
Ingredients For turkey and stuffing casserole
-
2-3turkey legs, wings or 2 cups leftover turkey
-
1 boxstuffing or cornbread stuffing, plus ingredients per box
-
1 jarturkey gravy or your own turkey gravy (18 oz)
How To Make turkey and stuffing casserole
-
1Bake turkey legs or boil until done. If you save the drippings you may have enough for the gravy, although I always use a jar of turkey gravy just in case.
-
2After the turkey is done, take the meat off the bones. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line the bottom of a casserole dish with the turkey. Pour your jar of gravy or homemade gravy into the turkey. Spread evenly.
-
3Prepare your stuffing according to the directions on the box or prepare your homemade stuffing. Distribute stuffing evenly on top of the turkey and gravy.
-
4Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until bubbly and the stuffing is golden brown.
