Ingredients For seared scallops in red sauce

  • SAUCE
  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 2 tsp
    grated ginger
  • 2 tsp
    chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 c
    tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c
    rice wine or dry sherry
  • SCALLOPS
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 16
    sea scallops
  • salt and pepper

How To Make seared scallops in red sauce

  • 1
    First make the sauce. Add the oil to a saucepan. Cook the garlic and ginger 1 minute. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

    For the scallops, add the oil to another pan. Season the scallops with salt and pepper. Sear the scallops ,working in batches if needed, over high heat for about 2 minutes per side.

    Plate the sauce and top with the seared scallops.
