Childhood memories.... Use leftover chicken, beef or turkey after Thanksgiving! You can play around with seasonings, too. If I use chicken I add a little poultry seasoning and sliced green onions. I've even used diced tomatoes with green chilies.

Ingredients For meat and tomato pie

  • 1 can
    tomatoes, diced, drained
  • 1/2 tsp
    onion juice
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c
    fine bread crumbs
  • QUICK DROP BISCUITS:
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    milk

How To Make meat and tomato pie

    Preheat oven 400. In a deep dish arrange in alternate layers meat and tomatoes, season each layer with salt and pepper and sprinkle with crumbs.

    Add onion juice and Worcestershire sauce to gravy and pour over all. Bake 20 minutes.

    Make biscuits: Mix and sift dry ingredients, rub in shortening until fine and crumbly, add milk to form a soft dough.

    Remove from oven and drop biscuit mixture by spoonfuls on top; bake about 15 minutes.
