1 tspground mustard powder

1/2 tspsalt, kosher variety, or to taste

8 oztomato sauce

1/4 cfiltered water

2 Tbspapple cider vinegar

1 Tbspworcestershire sauce

1 Tbspdark brown sugar
- THE SANDWICH

6 ozsharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded

6 slicegood firm bread

4 Tbspmayonnaise
How To Make sloppy joe grilled cheese sandwich

1PREP/PREPARE

2THE SLOPPY JOE MIX

3Gather your ingredients.

4Add the ground beef, sausage, and onion to a skillet over medium heat.

5Cook until the onions begin to soften, and the protein has almost cooked, about 5 to 7 minutes.

6Chef’s Note: Use a wooden spoon to break the meat into small pieces.

7Drain off any excess grease.

8Add the green bell pepper, and garlic.

9Cook until the garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute.

10Add the tomato paste, and stir to incorporate.

11Add the remainder of the ingredients

12Stir to thoroughly combine.

13Allow the mixture to lightly simmer until the sauce begins to reduce and thicken, about 20 to 30 minutes.

14Remove from heat, and allow it to cool.

15THE SANDWICH

16Gather your ingredients.

17Brush the mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice.

18Add some of the cheese to one of the slices (the side without the mayo).

19Add some of the sloppy Joe mix on top.

20Add more cheese to the top.

21Finish with the top slice of bread (mayo side out).

22Place the sandwich into a skillet over medium heat.

23Flip after about 90 seconds.

24Continue to flip every 90 seconds until both sides are nice and brown, about 5 or 6 flips.
