My inspiration for this recipe came from the Cubano sandwich. That awesome creation from Havana. I changed a few things around, and added my own touches. But, in the end, this is an awesome sandwich with a lot of wonderful flavors. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For sammie essentials: customized cuban sandwich

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1 lg
    ciabatta roll, about 12-inches (30cm) in length
  • 2 Tbsp
    mayonnaise, plain variety
  • 2 Tbsp
    yellow mustard, i prefer french’s
  • 4 slice
    swiss cheese
  • 4 oz
    cooked pork, or deli sliced pork
  • 1 lg
    dill pickle, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz
    deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 sm
    tomato, thinly sliced

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

    Slice the ciabatta roll in half, lengthwise.
  • 4
    Mix the mustard and mayonnaise together, and add half to the bottom of the ciabatta roll.

    Add two pieces of the swiss cheese to the bottom roll.

    Add the pork to the top of the cheese.

    I used smoked pork tenderloin, but sliced deli pork will work just fine.

    Add the pickle.

    Add the ham.

    Add the tomato.

    Add the remaining two slices of swiss cheese.

    Brush the remaining mustard/mayo mixture to the top of the roll, place on top, and then wrap tightly in a piece of parchment paper.

    Place in a preheated 250f (120c) oven for about 45 minutes.
