italian sausage, megan's
I have always enjoyed Italian Sausages from childhood. We used to make them on the stove at Halloween, and we would come home to dump off our trick or treat candy, eat a sandwich, and head out for more candy! My husband, a non Italian (I had a Sicilian Grandma) swears it isn't right unless I put in about 6 peppers and onions to go into a 10 pack of sausages. I prefer the straight sausages, more the traditional way I grew up with....

How To Make italian sausage, megan's
-
1Sear the sausages in a fry pan, no need to add oil, not going to be there that long. As they start to turn white, put them into a pot on the stove, and cover them with spaghetti sauce.
-
2At this point, if you wanted to add onions, which I confess I tend to occasionally do so, or peppers, go ahead. Stir everything up so that it's all covered with sauce.
-
3Put the pan on low heat and leave for hours, until they are all done. I tend to put them on low about 4 hours. You could also put them into a crockpot if you wanted. Serve them on hotdog buns.
-
4Leftover sausages, sliced into circles, are also amazingly good added to the hamburger in spaghetti bolognaise. That's provided there is any leftover.
