I had never made egg salad before, and one day, I had a craving for some. I asked around, got a few tips, but finally decided to "wing it." I combined my favorite ingredients and came up with this delicious recipe.

Ingredients For ellen's own egg salad

  • 5 lg
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    Hellmann's real mayonnaise
  • 1/2 c
    celery, chopped small
  • 1/2 tsp
    minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp
    minced fresh garlic
  • 1/4 tsp
    dill weed
  • 1/2 c
    sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tsp
    sweet pickle relish juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    white vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp
    yellow mustard
  • salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make ellen's own egg salad

    Gather all ingredients.

    Fill a large pot with water to the halfway point. Add the eggs. Make sure there is enough water to cover the eggs.

    When the water comes to a boil, cook the eggs for fifteen minutes.

    Submerge the cooked eggs in very cold water for five or ten minutes. Then peel them.

    Cut up the eggs into small pieces and place them in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Adding all ingredients

    Gently stir in the remaining ingredients until all are combined. If the mixture is too dry, add a bit more pickle juice.
  • All ingredients stirred in and ready to refrigerate

    Place egg salad in a covered container and refrigerate for several hours before serving. Serve on the bread of your choice as an egg salad sandwich, or serve on a bed of lettuce as a salad.
