How To Make bonnie's perfect french dip sandwich

  • 1
You will need a large crockpot or slow cooker.
  • 2
Cook the roast and ingredients for 3 to 4 hours on high or until fork tender.
  • 3
Choose a lean chuck roast for this dish. Trim excess fat from edges of the roast.
  • 4
Add salt and coarse ground pepper to the roast and rub it into the meat.
  • 5
Sear meat on both sides in a cast iron skillet with oil of your choice. I use olive oil.
  • 6
Transfer the seared meat to the crockpot without drippings.
  • 7
Add 1 cup of broth made with Better Bouillon beef flavored soup base to the crockpot.
  • 8
Add one envelope of Lipton Recipe Secrets Beefy Onion soup and dip mix to the pot.
  • 9
Add the chopped onions, 1 cup filtered water, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and stir to combine the ingredients. Time to start the crockpot!
  • 10
Time to eat! The liquid may not quite cover the roast, but in the cooking process, the roast makes its own juice, so there will be more au jus at the end of the cooking time. The au jus and the meat is melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
  • 11
Pile the meat high! There is a bun under there somewhere!
