My Mom has made this since I was a kid. I made it lower fat. * I save the other 1/2 of the soup for another recipe. I freeze it in a container or plastic freezer bag.

Ingredients For ya'll southern casserole pork chops

  • 1 package
    pork loin chops (not thin, at least 4)
  • 1 small
    onion , chopped
  • 1/2 can
    cream of mushroom soup, fat-free, lower salt
  • 1/2 can
    cream of celery soup
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 4-5
    baking potatoes
  • 1 cup
    lower fat colby/longhorn cheese (usually use 2%)
  • 1 tsp
    olive oil, light

How To Make ya'll southern casserole pork chops

    Preheat oven to 350'. Cut up potatoes and onions and cook until almost done. Drain. Sprinkle garlic powder on meat. Brown chops in oil on each side. In a pyrex or casserole dish layer potatoes, onions and soups. Add meat on top. Cover and cook at 350' for 45 minutes to one hour until done.I add the cheese and put it back in the oven just to melt. Serve.
