This is fantastic chili, a little spicy but not overly hot. If making it for a crowd just double the ingredients. It can be made the day before and warmed up in the crock pot. serve with corn bread or crusty rolls. don't let the long list of ingredients scare you, most are spices and it is really easy to put together.

Ingredients For tailgate chili

1 lbground beef

1/2 lbsweet italian sausage

1 can15 oz chili beans, drained

1 can15 oz chili beans in spicy sauce (undrained)

1 can16 oz diced tomatoes with juice

1 can3 oz can tomatoe paste

1 mdonion chopped
-
1stalk celery chopped
-
1 mdgreen pepper seeded and chopped

1 can(small size) chopped green chile peppers

2 tspbacon bits
-
2cubes beef bouillon
-
1/4 cbeer
-
1/8 tspchili powder
-
2 tspworcestershire sauce
-
2 tspminced garlic
-
2 tspdried oregano
-
1 tspground cumin
-
1 tsphot pepper sauce

1/2 tspdried basil
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tsppepper
-
1/2 tspcayenne pepper

1/2 tsppaprika

1 tspwhite sugar

1 ctomato juice
How To Make tailgate chili

1Heat a large stock pot over medium heat . crumble the hamburger and sausage into the hot pan and cook until evenly browned, drain of excess grease

2add rest of ingredients and stir until well blended

3cover and simmer over low heat stirring occasionally for 2 hours. The longer it simmers the better

4remove from heat and serve in bowls with shredded cheddar cheese on top or refrigerate and serve the next day

5after cooking. may be put in a crock pot and left on low heat

6You can use 1/8 cup of apple juice instead of the beer if you wish, and you can add more Tabasco if you like it really hot
