sweet & sour pork
I've been making this for over 30 years. I sometimes do a dinner party with fried rice, stir fry vegetables, gingered chicken and store bought won ton soup.

Ingredients For sweet & sour pork

1 1/2 lbboneless pork, cut in 1" cubes

1 can20 oz. pineapple chunks in heavy syrup

1/4 cbrown sugar

2 Tbspcornstarch
-
1/4 cwhite vinegar
-
1 Tbspsoy sauce
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
3/4 cgreen pepper cut in 1/2" strips

1/4 conions thinly sliced

maraschino cherries, for garnish, optional
How To Make sweet & sour pork

1Brown pork slowly in a little oil. Add 1/2 cup water, cover and simmer until tender, about 1 hour.

2Drain pineapple, reserving syrup. In a saucepan combine cornstarch and brown sugar. Add reserved syrup, vinegar, soy sauce and salt. Cook stirring constantly over medium heat until thickened.

3Pour over hot pork, let rest 10 minutes.

4Add pineapple chunks, green pepper and onions cook another 5 minutes until peppers are done to your liking.

5Serve with white rice. Cherries are a nice garnish, but are not necessary.
