Mom loved to host parties, the Chinese one was a huge hit. She didn't mention rice with this, because she had a bowl on every table, and people could then top it with their choice of main dish!

Ingredients For sweet and sour pork, mom

  • 2 lb
    pork
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp
    romano cheese, shredded
  • dash
    parsley flakes
  • dash
    salt
  • dash
    pepper
  • 1 1/2 c
    celery, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    green onion, chopped
  • 4 oz
    red wine vinegar
  • 4 oz
    water
  • sugar to taste
  • 1 bag
    mixed chinese style vegetables

How To Make sweet and sour pork, mom

  • 1
    Moisten meat in a slightly beaten egg, then bread in a mixture of bread crumbs, cheese, parsley, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with olive oil and brown on both sides. Dice onion and celery, saute in olive oil, then add sugar, water and vinegar. Alternate mixtures of meat and vegetables. Serve hot. Can be made ahead and reheated for 15-20 min at 350 degrees, or even served cold.
