We made this on a larger scale at a daycare that I worked at. Definitely kid tested and approved... I dare you to try not going back for seconds! I use this as a main dish and normally serve it with sweet peas and applesauce...but it could be used as a side dish just as easily. Also...try adding a can of diced tomatoes. I like Del Monte's diced tomatoes with garlic and onion. Adds good flavor and a pop of color. :)

Ingredients For sausage rice

  • 8 oz
    sausage (half roll or about 6 patties)
  • 1 can
    campbell's beef consomme
  • 1 can
    campbell's french onion soup
  • 2 c
    minute rice

How To Make sausage rice

  • 1
    Brown sausage in pan...do not drain--keep that flavor! :)

    Add beef consomme and french onion soup to pan with sausage. Bring mixture to a boil.

    Add rice. Stir. Cover. Remove from heat. Let stand about 10 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Fluff, serve, and enjoy!
