I also learned this in home economics back in the mid 80's. it was so good i kept it. I thought it was weird to use breakfast sausage but oh the flavor of it in this dish is exciting on the taste buds.

Ingredients For sausage and rice casserole

  • 2 lb
    ground breakfast sausage (jimmy dean or owens or store brand)
  • 1 md
    onion chopped
  • 2 sprig
    celery sliced medium to thin (i like some bigger pieces of celery for texture)
  • 2 can
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 can
    cream of celery soup
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 5-6 cups cooked white rice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • velveeta cheese

How To Make sausage and rice casserole

    In a Dutch oven cook sausage with onions and celery breaking sausage up to a fine ground texture.

    add cream of soups and salt and pepper. add your rice. spread into a 9x13 casserole dish, top with velveeta slices. melt in oven 350. so yummy. my kids love it!
