Ingredients For root beer pulled pork from heaven

  • 1 lg
    pork shoulder butt (be sure it will fit in slow cooker)
  • 2 Tbsp
    salt
  • 3 Tbsp
    black pepper
  • 1 md
    red onion, rough chopped
  • 4 c
    root beer, not diet; divided
  • 12 oz
    sweet chili sauce
  • red pepper flakes, optional
  • hot chili sauce, optional

How To Make root beer pulled pork from heaven

    Place pork in slow cooker and turn on low. Add in salt, pepper, onion, and 2 cups of root beer.

    Cook on low for 8 to 12 hours depending on the size of the roast.

    Cook until the pork is tender and can shred easily.

    At dinnertime put 2 cups root beer in a saucepan along with an entire 12 oz jar of sweet chili sauce. Add a hot chili sauce or red pepper flakes for an extra kick if you'd like. Bring to a boil.

    Shred pork.

    Serve on toasted buns with the sauce.
