I was hesitant to try this because I was unsure of the flavor. Oh my... it became one of my kid's favorite.

The cranberry apple relish is the star of this dish. We could eat it off a cracker on its own. It's tart, sweet, and lightly spiced with the cinnamon and there's a delightful crunch from the walnuts. Simply superb! We taste-tested it with pork chops, but turkey or chicken breasts would be great with it too.

  • 4 c
    fresh cranberries
  • 1 lb
    apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 c
    walnuts
  • 4-6

How To Make pork chops with cranberry apple relish

  • Apples, cranberries, brown sugar and water in a saucepot.

    Combine the cranberries, apples, brown sugar and water in a large saucepan.
  • Simmering apple and cranberry mixture on the stove.

    Simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Stirring in walnuts.

    Stir in the cinnamon and walnuts.

    Cook 5 minutes.
  • Pork chops frying in a pan.

    While the relish cooks, place the pork chops in a large frying pan and cook until just shy of done.
  • Pork chops and cranberry relish combined in the pan.

    Pour the cranberry-apple relish over the pork chops and simmer about 10 minutes to allow the flavor to penetrate the meat.

    When plating, place a pork chop on plate and spoon relish over top. Let rest for about 2 minutes. Serve.
