Ingredients For pork chops w/ apple gravy

  • 3 Tbsp
    vegetable shortening
  • 6
    pork chops
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 c
    apple juice
  • 4 qt
    salted, boiling water
  • 2 c
    egg noodles, uncooked
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    flour

How To Make pork chops w/ apple gravy

    Melt shortening in cast iron skillet and add meat. Cook over a medium heat until brown on both sides. Add salt, pepper & 1/2 cup of your apple juice. Cover and let cook over low heat for 45 minutes or til tender. (This depends on how big your pork chops are.)

    about 30-35 minutes into cooking time; boil your egg noodles in the boiling/salted water following pkg. directions. Then drain.

    Remove the pork chop from the skillet & drain off fat leaving 3 TBLSP of drippings in the skillet. Add flour and blend. Gradually add remaining apple juice. Cook over a low heat stirring constantly. Cook til thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

    Arrange meat on noodles and top with apple gravy. Garnish with glazed apple wedges (or you can saute some chopped apples in butter til tender)and parsley.
