Ingredients For pork and apple stew with cheddar cheese dumplings

2 lbpork meat for stew

2apples chopped

1 1/2 conions chopped

1 tspcelery seed

1star anise

1 tspcinnamon

1 craisins

3 cchicken broth
-
1/4 cflour
-
1/4 cunsalted butter
-
2 cbisquick mix
-
2/3 cmilk
-
1/2 cshredded cheddar cheese
-
salt and pepper to taste

1 Tbsprubbed sage
How To Make pork and apple stew with cheddar cheese dumplings

1Brown the pork in a stew pot, remove and set aside

2In the same pot,brown the onions,then add the celery seed, rubbed sage ,star anise,and cinnamon. Cook these together for about 5 minutes.

3Add the chopped apples and raisins, remove the star anise.

4Add butter,let it melt,then add the flour. Stir until it is well blended, just a few seconds.

5Add 2 c of chicken broth and stir. Return the browned pork to the stew pot.

6On a low temp simmer on the stovetop for about 30 minutes.

7Raise the temperature to med-high and add the rest of the chicken broth and stir. This helps to steam the dumplings.

8Mix together Bisquick mix, milk and cheese. Do not overmix. Drop by spoonfuls on top of the stew cover and let cook until the dumplings are done. They should just about double in size.
