I recently bought a mini-slow cooker and have been adapting recipes for it. I am a single-person household, and while I like my own cooking, I really don't want lots of leftovers, even if they are delicious. A ham steak is a great way to enjoy ham without having to worry about days of leftovers. I think this recipe would work without changes in a 2 qt slow cooker, as well.

I used a 1 1/2 quart slow cooker. You can probably add a second ham steak with the same amount of the other ingredients. You can use other liquors (rum, whiskey) and certainly other spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves) - I view this recipe as a roadmap! You can use some of the drained pineapple juice instead of liquor. Leftover pineapple is good on ice cream, pancakes, waffles, French toast.
