    country-style spareribs, trimmed
  • 1/2
    lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 sm
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/3 c
    tomato based chili sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    soy sauce

How To Make oven barbecued country style spareribs (for 2)

    Arrange spareribs in a single layer in an 8-inch-square baking dish. Distribute lemon and onion evenly over meat.

    Cover and bake in a 350F oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

    Meanwhile, in a pan combine brown sugar, chili powder, celery seed, garlic salt, water, chili sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire, and soy sauce: Cook, uncovered, over medium heat for 5 minutes.

    Remove lemon and onion slices and discard. Lift ribs from pan and cut in serving-size pieces. Discard pan drippings.

    Return meat to pan and pour hot sauce over. Continue baking, uncovered, basting frequently, for about 45 minutes or until meat is glazed, fork tender.

    Transfer meat to a serving dish. Skim off and discard any fat from sauce. Spoon sauce over meat.
