A favorite recipe that is always a hit when I take it to bbq's or other family parties.

Ingredients For my sausage and peppers

  • 2 lb
    hot or sweet italian sausage, or a combination of both (i used the combination this time)
  • 8 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 2 lg
    sweet onions, sliced
  • 3
    green bell peppers, sliced
  • 2
    red peppers, sliced
  • olive oil, as needed

How To Make my sausage and peppers

  • prepared casserole dish
    1
    Pre heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 casserole dish with cooking spray. Cover bottom of casserole with tomato sauce.
  • saute peppers and onions

    Slice onions and peppers, and saute in a large frying pan in 1-2 tablespoons olive oil until vegetables are soft and tender. Set aside.
  • par-boiling sausage for 10 minutes.

    In same pan, par-boil sausage for 10 minutes. Drain water from pan, slice sausage, and brown in 1 tablespoon olive oil.
  • Ready to go in casserole to bake.

    When sausage is browned, combine with vegetables in the frying pan. Mix well, then transfer to casserole. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake in oven for 30 minutes, or until heated through.
  • Ready to eat!

    Serve with italian bread, and a green salad for a delicious meal. Enjoy!
