How To Make meatloaf with sweet-and-hot sauce
-
1Combine ingredients for meatloaf; mix well. Spray pan with Pam. Place into loaf pan and bake until an instant read thermometer inserted in middle of loaf reads 155 D/F 45 to 50 minutes. While this is cooking, make the sauce.
-
2In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the ketchup (or tomato sauce), sugar, water, vinegar, soy sauce and cayenne. Heat stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil, then immediately whisk in the cornstarch/water mixture. Stir constantly until thickened, about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.
-
3When the meat loaf is done, remove it from the oven, cover to keep warm, and let stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Pour off any excess fat in the pan. Cut the meat loaf into slices 1/2 inch thick. Serve immediately with the sweet-and-sour sauce on the side.
