Blue Ribbon Recipe

What a simple and delicious ribs recipe! They're savory and the meat falls off the bone after the ribs are baked. We particularly liked the slightly sweet and smoky rub. We prepared them in the oven, but they could be grilled, too.

How To Make marie's i want more ribs

  • Peel the membrane off the ribs.
    1
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Peel off the tough membrane that covers the bony side of the ribs.
  • Mix sugar and spices for the rub.
    2
Mix the sugar and spices to make the rub.
  • Apply the rub to both sides of the ribs.
    3
Apply rub to ribs on all sides.
  • Lay ribs on a baking sheet covered with foil.
    4
Lay ribs on two layers of foil, shiny side out and meaty side down.
  • Enclose the ribs in the foil and bake.
    5
Lay two layers of foil on top of the ribs. Roll and crimp edges tightly; edges facing up to seal. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 2-2 1/2 hours or until the meat is starting to shrink away from the ends of the bone.
  • Cut the ribs, brush with barbecue sauce, and broil.
    6
Remove ribs from the oven. Heat the broiler and cut the ribs into serving-sized portions of 2 or 3 ribs. Arrange ribs on a broiler pan, bone side up. Brush on sauce.
  • Flip and repeat the process on the other side.
    7
Broil for 1 or 2 minutes until the sauce is bubbly. Turn ribs over. Repeat on the other side. Alternately, you can grill the ribs to cook on the sauce.
