Ingredients For ham steak with red eye gravy

1 1/2 lbham steaks, cut 1" thick

2 Tbsplight brown sugar

1/4 tspcinnamon

1/8 tspground cloves
-
2 tspinstant coffee
-
1 cboiling water
How To Make ham steak with red eye gravy

1Trim off fat from ham and dice the fat (use butter if there is no fat). Cook fat until you get 2 tablespoons drippings, discard solids. In small bowl combine sugar and cloves, rub into both sides of ham steak. Add to skillet and cook until brown (approximately 2 minutes). Keep warm (cover with foil). In measuring cup, dissolve coffee in boiling water, add to skillet and cook about 10 minutes. (Must be syrupy.) Pour gravy over ham and serve.
