grandma busch's hot ham sandwich

Tomato soup and my grandma were a couple. It seems like she started every recipe with a can of tomato soup. Sliced luncheon meats weren't as common in those days. Grandma would make ham sandwiches on Sunday evening and pour tomato soup over the top. Yum...

2I learned when I was grown that this is a specialty in the Buffalo area. Area restaurants serve a similar sandwich, the tomato soup is flavored with cloves. This must have been my grandma's take on the local sandwich.
