This is my version of sausage gravy. It's the best! Pour over hot biscuits ( I use store bought in my older age ) . It's very fattening and good. Follow these directions and you won't be disappointed.

Ingredients For donna's sausage and gravy over biscuits

  • 1 pkg
    ( 12 oz ) maple flavored sausage
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 3 c
    whole milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make donna's sausage and gravy over biscuits

    Place sausage in a deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown and crumbly, remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.

    With the dripping from the sausage in the pan stir in butter, until melted. Add flour, and stir until smooth. Reduce heat to medium, and cook until light brown.

    Gradually whisk in the milk, and cook until thickened. Season with salt and pepper stir in the sausage. Reduce heat and simmer about 10 minutes. If gravy becomes too thick stir in a little more milk.

    Place biscuits on a plate, cover with sausage gravy and enjoy.
