Blue Ribbon Recipe

Have this easy and hearty meal in your back pocket when you're not sure what's for dinner. The sausage slightly browns and mixes with the potatoes. Onions and peppers add another layer of flavor and texture completing the meal. It makes a lot, so depending on your family size or if you want leftovers, cut the recipe in half if needed.

Ingredients For deb's sausage, peppers, and onions

  • 5 lb
    Russet potatoes
  • 1 - 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 md
    green bell peppers
  • 1 md
    orange bell pepper
  • 1 md
    yellow bell pepper
  • 1 md
    red bell pepper
  • 1 md
    onion, quartered
  • 2 pkg
    cheddar sausage
  • 1 pkg
    smoked sausage

How To Make deb's sausage, peppers, and onions

  • Peel and cut the potatoes.

    First, get everything cut up and ready to go. Peel and cut the potatoes.
  • Dice the onions and peppers.

    Dice the onions and peppers.
  • Add potatoes to a skillet with oil and saute.

    In a large skillet, put a little oil in the pan. Add potatoes. Cover and cook potatoes. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cook until almost tender.

  • Add peppers and onions.

    Add peppers and onions. Stir and cook until completely cooked.
  • Brown the sausage.

    In a separate skillet, brown the sausage. Or, cook the sausage in a 350 degree F oven. When I know that the potatoes are almost done, I will put the broiler on to brown my sausage.
  • Mix everything together - juices and all.
