My grandmother used to make it - then my mom got the recipe...It was a favorite of ours for years and still is....so simple too. Sorry I couldn't add the prep time-this is a really old recipe so things may vary a bit now with the new appliances altho I still stick to what it says. Maybe it is because it gives me time to reminisce!!!

Ingredients For chop suey

4 conion, chopped

4 ccelery, chopped

4 cwater

1 canbean sprouts (la choy)

1 1/2 lbpork steak, cut into small pieces

1 1/2 lbround steak, cut into small pieces

4 Tbspsoy sauce

1 Tbspbrown sauce

1 Tbspcornstarch or flour
How To Make chop suey

1Boil celery and onions in water for 30 min.

2Chop meat into small pieces and fry in a small amount of oil til brown. Pour into onion & celery mixture. Add soy sauce and brown sauce. Simmer 45 min to 1 hr.

3Mix cornstarch (or flour) into a little water and pour into mixture to thicken. Cook 10 min. Serve over steamed rice.
