How To Make turkey meatball pizza with whole wheat crust

  • 1
In a large bowl, stir together the yeast & warm water, add honey and set aside for 10 minutes.
  • 2
Meanwhile in a glass measuring cup, combine the cold water, oil and salt. Add the cold water mixture to the yeast and stir in flour.
  • 3
Knead the dough on a heavily floured board until smooth and elastic (about 8 minutes)
  • 4
Put the dough in a lightly greased bowl and turn to coat. Let the dough rise, covered loosely with plastic food wrap in a warm, draft free place for 1 hour.
  • 5
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 6
Mix ground turkey with oats, mushrooms, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Shape into bite size balls. Dress a cookie sheet with olive oil, cook meat balls in 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through. (I know this is cheating with meatballs, but it makes it so much easier, you can cook them in a skillet if your prefer)
  • 7
Remove turkey meatballs and raise oven temp to 425 degrees.
  • 8
Roll out the crust to desired thickness.
  • 9
Ladle and spread the pizza sauce over crust.
  • 10
Place meat balls over pizza sauce and layer the vegetables you've chosen over the top.
  • 11
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top.
  • 12
Bake in oven until the cheese is just starting to brown, about 12 - 15 minutes.
