I created a new pizza recipe featuring fried chicken. The pizza sauce is mixed with honey mustard and I topped it with banana peppers, applewood bacon, and crumbled American cheese.

Ingredients For fried chicken pizza

  • 1/4 c
    avocado oil
  • 1 lg
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tsp
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • 8
    applewood bacon strips
  • 1 c
    pizza sauce
  • 1 c
    honey mustard
  • 1
    container refrigerated pizza crust (10 oz)
  • 12
    deli fried chicken strips, sliced
  • 1 c
    crumbled processed American cheese
  • 2
    banana peppers, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 8 oz
    colby jack cheese, shredded

How To Make fried chicken pizza

    Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add sliced vidalia onion and saute for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue cooking and stirring until the onion is very tender, about 5 more minutes. Stir in red pepper flakes.

    Place the bacon strips in a large, deep skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes.

    Drain the bacon strips on a paper towel-lined plate; crumble when cool.

    In a medium bowl, combine the pizza sauce and honey mustard; whisk together until blended and set aside.

    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.

    Press the refrigerated pizza crust onto the baking sheet to fit the size of the pan. Spread the honey mustard/pizza sauce evenly over the pizza crust.

    Sprinkle with the sliced fried chicken strips, caramelized onion, bacon, crumbled American cheese and sliced banana peppers. Season with garlic powder. Top with shredded colby jack cheese.

    Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the pizza crust is golden brown on the bottom, about 20 minutes.
