dill pickle & salami pizza with white garlic sauce
I know it sounds weird but it is surprisingly delicious. It was pizza night, and we usually order from 1 particular pizza place here in town because they are consistently good and prompt. But periodically we make our own, and tonight was one of those nights. I had ordered a dill pickle pizza and loved it, so I tried making it myself with a few adjustments to see how it would come out. One word - Scrumptious! Simple to make, and the leftovers are awesome. Make it with or without the salami - maybe sub another protein if you like.

How To Make dill pickle & salami pizza with white garlic sauce
-
1Preheat oven to 450 F. Prepare your baking sheet for the pizza by either spraying or dusting with cornmeal and then set aside.
-
2First, make the white garlic sauce. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and continue whisking for 1-2 minutes being careful that it does not brown. Slowly add milk or cream. Whisk constantly until smooth, thickened, and bubbly. Whisk in salt, pepper, and pressed garlic. Add Parmesan cheese and whisk for another 30 seconds. Then remove from heat and continue to whisk until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Set aside to use on pizza then store extra in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
-
3Place your pizza crust onto the prepared baking sheet. Press into whatever shape you desire. Par bake for 7 minutes.
-
4Remove the crust from the oven. Spread the crust with white garlic sauce - the amount is up to you. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella, provolone, and muenster onto the sauce. Then top with Parmesan. NOTE: If you have fresh dill sprinkle a few sprigs on top of the cheeses. If not you can use a sprinkle of dried dill weed. Arrange salami and thinly sliced dill pickles on top of the cheese. Top with a small amount of mozzarella. Then drizzle with the pickle juice.
-
5Bake on the bottom rack in the oven for 12-14 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden and the crust is done.
-
6Serve hot as is or dip in ranch dressing. Regarding the pizza dough. I use frozen bread dough. Let it thaw, then roll it out to the desired shape. You can use whatever you prefer. The amounts of cheese and toppings are up to you. Some like just a little while others want it piled high.
