Ingredients For the cheesiest mac 'n' cheese

  • 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 tsp
    prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp
    instant minced onion
  • 1 can
    cheddar cheese soup, undiluted (10-3/4 ouces)
  • 10 oz
    sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (see notes)
  • 8 oz
    pasteurized prepared cheese product, cubed
  • 8 oz
    elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1-1/2 c
    cubed cooked ham (optional)

How To Make the cheesiest mac 'n' cheese

    In a large bowl, whisk together first 4 ingredients.

    Combine milk mixture, soup and remaining ingredients in a lightly greased 3 to 4 quart slow cooker.

    Cover and cook 3-1/2 hours on LOW setting. Let stand 10 minutes; stir before serving.

    NOTE: You can also use 2-1/2 cups packaged shredded sharp Cheddar cheese. Also, if you know your slow cooker has a "hot spot" on one side, carefully turn the crockery insert during the cook time to evenly distribute the heat. This tip should help prevent scorching or burning your food.
