A delicious stuffed shell recipe which my husband and I really enjoy!

Ingredients For stuffed shells

  • 12 oz
    jumbo pasta shells
  • 3/4 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1 can
    diced tomatoes (29 oz)
  • 1 can
    tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 16 oz
    cottage cheese
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried basil
  • 2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/8 tsp
    minced garlic
  • salt, to taste
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz
    shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make stuffed shells

    Cook shell pasta in a large pot with boiling salted water until al dente. Drain well.

    In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onions. Drain off the grease.

    In a large bowl, add the chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce, and cottage cheese; stir well.

    Add the basil, oregano, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well blended.

    In the bottom of a 2-quart baking dish, cover with a half cup of the tomato sauce mixture.

    Stuff the shells with the beef mixture. Place side by side in a baking dish.

    Cover the stuffed shells with the remaining tomato sauce and top with mozzarella cheese.

    Cover with aluminum foil.

    Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 1 hour.

    Allow to stand for 15 minutes and serve.
