This new macaroni and cheese recipe is gonna be a spicy one, filled with jalapenos and pepperjack cheese and topped with a spicy bread crumb topping.

Ingredients For spicy macaroni and cheese

1 ccrumbled cooked bacon

3/4 cgrated Parmesan cheese

3 Tbspcrushed red pepper flakes, divided

16 ozdry elbow macaroni

1 Tbspcreole seasoning

2 tspavocado oil
-
3/4 cpanko bread crumbs
-
1 Tbspchili powder
-
4 Tbspmargarine
-
4fresh jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced

5pepperoncini peppers, sliced
-
1 mdred onion, chopped
-
1/4 call purpose flour
-
2 cheavy cream
-
1 cmilk
-
8 ozcream cheese, softened
-
8 ozpepperjack cheese, shredded and divided
-
8 ozwhite American cheese, shredded and divided
-
1 Tbspsea salt mixed with black pepper
-
2 tspground cumin
How To Make spicy macaroni and cheese

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2Coat a 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray. Add crumbled bacon, grated Parmesan cheese and 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes; mix well.

3Cook the macaroni according to package directions; drain. Season with creole seasoning and mix well.

4Heat the avocado oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the panko bread crumbs, chili powder and 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes. Cook and stir for 3 minutes until browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

5Heat margarine in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add diced jalapenos, sliced pepperoncini peppers, and chopped red onion; cook, while stirring, about 2 minutes until very fragrant.

6Add flour to the veggie mixture and cook while stirring for 1 minute.

7Slowly add the heavy cream and milk to the veggie mixture while whisking and continue to cook and whisk until no lumps remain and the sauce is thickened.

8Add the cream cheese cubes into the sauce mixture and cook, stirring, until melted.

9Add 1 cup shredded pepperjack and white American cheese to the sauce mixture and cook, while stirring, for 5 minutes until melted.

10Add the sea salt/black pepper and cumin to the sauce mixture and stir well for 3 minutes until combined.

11In a large mixing bowl, add the cooked macaroni, prepared cheese sauce and remaining crushed red pepper flakes. Mix together until combined.

12Pour into a prepared baking dish evenly.Sprinkle with remaining shredded pepperjack and white american cheese and toasted bread crumbs.

13Bake for 20 minutes until the cheese is melted. Cool for 10 minutes.
