How To Make bonnie's slumgoli

  • 1
Fry the bacon in a large skillet, remove and drain on paper towels, crumble when cool. Drain the grease.
  • 2
Add the ground beef to the skillet and lightly brown it.
  • 3
Note: only cook the noodles al dente and then drain them so they won't be overcooked.
  • 4
Remove the ground beef and bacon to a large mixing bowl, with the cooked noodles, and add the chopped onion to the skillet, and cook for five minutes until tender.
  • 5
Add the cooked onions to the mixing bowl, creamed corn, mushrooms, sliced olives and tomato sauce. Stir to combine. Then add the Gebhardt chili powder, leaf thyme, and salt and pepper to taste, mix again. (Gebhardt chili is more mild than other brands)
  • 6
Transfer the contents of the mixing bowl to a large casserole dish that has a lid. Add the grated parmesan cheese.
  • 7
Bake in the oven covered at 250 degrees for 2 hours. This allows the flavors to blend.
  • 8
Garnish the serving with fine chopped parsley.
