This is comfort food to the max. This sauce tastes like it has been simmering all day long. But, lucky for you it only takes about 30 minutes. Yes, I know, I'm a genius! Without further adieu let me show you the way to make an amazing pasta dish =)

Ingredients For rigatoni alla meat sauce

  • 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 clove
    garlic
  • 1/2
    white onion, chopped
  • 1/2
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    basil, dried (divided use)
  • 1 Tbsp
    oregano, dried (divided use)
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 lb
    rigatoni pasta, uncooked
  • 1 can
    canned diced tomatoes with the juice
  • 1 c
    prego spaghetti sauce
  • parmesan for garnish

How To Make rigatoni alla meat sauce

    Start by chopping your garlic,bell pepper,and onion.

    Pour your tbsp of olive oil and your 2 tbsp of butter in a pain under medium heat, let the butter melt and then throw in your red pepper flakes, onions and bell pepper in and saute them until their tender, then add the garlic, continue to saute until it becomes fragrant.

    Then add your ground beef to the pan and 1/2 tbsp (of each) of dried basil, oregano,onion powder and salt and pepper,stir to combine. Continue to cook until the beef is browned.

    Then drain the grease off the beef and vegetable mixture, Begin to boil your pasta water with lots of salt.

    In the same pan add the 1 can of diced tomatoes and the juice, add the remaining dried basil, oregano, and onion powder, and of course salt and pepper it as well. Allow some of the liquid to cook off, then add the ground beef and vegetable mixture to the pan and cook for about 10 minutes

    Then add your 1 cup of Prego traditional spaghetti sauce,(**optional** grate some fresh Parmesan cheese in (no more that 1/8 of a cup it will make your sauce too salty if you add more than an 1/8 of a cup).

    Let the sauces marry for another 10 to 15 minutes together, then serve over your cooked rigatoni pasta, add more Parmesan for garnish.
