Ingredients For penne pasta with sausage and red sauce

  • 12 oz
    penne pasta
  • 5
    sweet italian sausage casings removed
  • 6 clove
    garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh basil chopped
  • 4 oz
    prosciutto chopped
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 28 oz
    crushed tomatoes
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • parmesan cheese for topping

How To Make penne pasta with sausage and red sauce

    Cook the pasta in boiling salted water and drain. Place prosciutto in a large skillet. Cook until browned. Add the sausage and cook until no longer pink. Add the garlic and cook 30 seconds.

    Add the wine and scrap up the bits from the bottom of the pan. Add the tomatoes, and sugar. Simmer until thickened. About 15 minutes. Add the basil.

    Serve over the pasta and top with cheese
