Ingredients For pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans)

2.6 ozdiced bacon

1 sprigrosemary, left intact

1 sprigthyme, left intact

1dried bay leaf, do not crush

1/2chopped onion
-
1 smfinely chopped carrot
-
1rib of finely chopped celery
-
4 clovechopped garlic
-
coarse salt and pepper
-
1 can(15oz) white beans
-
1 ccanned tomatoes, crushed

2 cwater
-
1 qtchicken broth (1 tablesp/1 teaspoon chicken flavored base=4 cups water)

1 1/2 cuncooked ditalini pasta
How To Make pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans)

1Heat large pot over medium heat and add diced bacon. Brown lightly. Add herb stems, bay leaf, chopped vegetables and garlic. Season vegetables with salt and pepper. Add beans, tomatoes, water, and chicken stock to pot and raise heat to high..bring to rapid boil and add pasta.

2Reduce heat to medium and cook soup, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente. Remove bay leaf and stems and continue cooking until pasta is done. Ladle into bowls and top with fresh grated cheese.
