Ingredients For pasta broccoli cheese bake

  • 3 c
    pasta of your choice
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 3 tsp
    salt
  • 2 pkg
    (14 oz.ea.) broccoli florets
  • 1/3 c
    butter
  • 1/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 c
    milk
  • 2 1/4 c
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 c
    shredded swiss cheese
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2
    chopped red pepper

How To Make pasta broccoli cheese bake

    In a large saucepan, bring 2 quarts of water to a boil with the one tablespoon of olive oil. Add 2 teaspoons salt and pasta. Wait for re-boil. Stir frequently. Cook until al dente (firm to bite). Drain.

    Cook broccoli in microwave for 5 minutes. Drain any water.

    In another large saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour and milk and whisk until mixture boils and thickens. Add 1-1/2 cups cheddar cheese, 3/4 cup Swiss cheese, 1 teaspoon salt, and garlic and stir until blended.

    Add cooked broccoli, red pepper and drained pasta to the cheese sauce. Mix well. Spoon into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with 3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

    Bake uncovered in a preheated 350-degree oven for 20 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
