Ingredients For macaroni and cheese with breaded pork strips

  • BREADED PORK STRIPS
  • 4
    3/4-inch thick center cut boneless pork chops, fat trimmed and sliced into strips
  • 2 Tbsp
    sea salt mixed with black pepper, divided
  • 4
    eggs, beaten
  • 3 Tbsp
    grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 3/4 c
    dry panko bread crumbs, divided
  • 1
    packet dry onion soup mix
  • 3 tsp
    garlic and herb seasoning
  • MACARONI AND CHEESE
  • 1 lb
    uncooked cavatappi pasta
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 1/2 c
    2% milk
  • 1 c
    half and half
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened and cut into cubes
  • 4 oz
    sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz
    monterey jack cheese, shredded

How To Make macaroni and cheese with breaded pork strips

    Preheat oven 375 degrees F. Coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

    Season the pork strips with 1 tablespoon sea salt/black pepper on each side.

    In a medium bowl, combine the eggs and 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese; whisk well. Set aside.

    In a large ziplock bag, combine 1 cup breadcrumbs, dry onion soup mix, 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese and garlic and herb seasoning; mix together until blended and set aside.

    Dip seasoned pork strips into a egg mixture. Add the strips to the ziplock bag. Seal it and shake for 30 seconds until coated.

    Place the breaded pork strips on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely for 5 minutes. Set aside.

    Cook cavatappi pasta according to package directions. Coat a 13- x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

    Heat the margarine in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk well for 2 minutes. Whisk in the heavy cream, 2% milk, and half and half until smooth; cook for 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.

    Add the cheeses and mix well. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until the cheeses are melted. Remove from heat and add cooked cavatappi pasta.

    Pour into the prepared baking dish. Add the breaded pork strips and push them in with a fork. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs.

    Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
