gail's easy spaghetti and meat sauce

When you're in a hurry make a few additions to your favorite jar sauce for a quick meal. Ground beef, canned tomatoes and a few spices are all you need. Note: May make meatballs instead of crumbling and browning beef. Cook meatballs then add to the sauce.

Ingredients For gail's easy spaghetti and meat sauce

1 lbground beef

1/4 tspsalt (more to taste)

1/2 tspblack pepper, coarse ground

1 jarspaghetti sauce (ragu with meat) 1lb 7.9 oz (or larger)

1 candiced tomatoes, petite

1 tspchili powder

1 tsporegano leaves
-
1/4 tspbasil leaves

1/4 tspblack pepper, coarse ground

2 dashnutmeg, (optional)

1 pkgspaghetti 8-12 oz

1 Tbspolive oil, extra virgin

6 cboiling water, salted

1 Tbspbutter

1/2 ccheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cparmesan cheese, grated (optional)
- FOR MEATBALLS: SEASON GROUND BEEF WITH SALT & PEPPER AND FORM INTO 1 - 1 1/2 INCH BALLS. FRY IN SKILLET UNTIL DONE THEN SIMMER WITH SAUCE
How To Make gail's easy spaghetti and meat sauce

1In large heavy saucepan, brown ground chuck with salt and pepper. Drain. Add spaghetti sauce, tomatoes and spices. Simmer until hot and bubbly stirring occasionally. Turn heat down to low and keep hot until spaghetti is done. Stirring occasionally.

2Cook spaghetti with olive oil in boiling salted water. Boil for approximately 12 minutes until tender yet firm. Drain. Add 1 tablespoon butter. Stir until blended.

3Pour spaghetti onto large serving platter. Pour sauce over spaghetti. Top with shredded cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese in addition, if desired. Serve hot with garlic bread or rolls and green beans or green salad.
