Ingredients For creamy beef and shells

  • 1 lb
ground beef with a little fat in it, like 85/15
  • 1/2 md
    yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 can
    tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 2 c
    low-sodium beef broth
  • 12 oz
    medium pasta shells, uncooked
  • 1/2 c
heavy cream, warmed to room temperature
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • grated Parmesan, for garnish
  • chopped fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish

How To Make creamy beef and shells

  • 1
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. When the ground beef is about halfway browned, add the onion and continue cooking until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Reduce the heat to low and add the garlic and Italian seasoning. Cook for 1 minute while stirring.
  • 2
Add the tomato sauce and beef broth. Bring it to a boil. Add the pasta, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook until tender, approximately 15-18 minutes. Add a little more beef broth if needed to keep the pasta submerged.
  • 3
Remove from the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • 4
Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or thyme.
