This is a classic Italian pasta dish. I got the recipe years ago from my friends mom, who was originally from Italy, so you know it's the real deal. Serve w/ homemade garlic bread and a glass of chianti, and you'll feel like you are in italy.

Ingredients For classic penne alla arrabiata

1 lbpenne pasta, i used ronzoni smart taste

2 Tbspolive oil, extra virgin

1 cred onion, thinly sliced

2 tspminced garlic
-
6 ozgenoa salami, cubed
-
1/2 tspred pepper flakes
-
214.5 oz cans diced tomatoes, w/ juice
-
1 Tbsptomato paste
-
1 Tbsplight brown sugar
-
1 Tbspbalsamic vinegar
-
salt and pepper to taste
-
1/3 cfresh basil, torn into pieces
-
1/4 cgrated fresh parmesan cheese.
How To Make classic penne alla arrabiata

1Cook pasta as directed, reserving 1/4 cup cooking water, drain. Heat oil in lg skillet over med-high heat. Add onion and saute for 5 mins.

2Add garlic, salami and red pepper flakes, saute 7 mins or until fragrant. Add tomatoes w/ their juice, tomato paste, brown sugar, and vinegar.

3Stir well. Reduce heat to medium, simmer for 15 mins. Season w/ salt & pepper. Transfer pasta to lg serving bowl, spoon sauce over pasta, toss to coat. Sprinkle w/ bail and parmesan cheese.
