There are so many wonderful casserole's but Cavatini is one of my favorites.

Mmmm... what a wonderfully hearty dish! I remember having this years ago and have fond memories of savoring every bite. What a great way to use up all the boxes of partially-used pastas hiding in your cupboard!

Ingredients For cavatini

  • 1 lb
    assorted noodles, cooked
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 jar
    (4 oz) mushrooms
  • 1 can
    ( 15 oz ) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 c
    red wine
  • 1
    onion diced
  • 1 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 c
    shredded mozarella cheese

How To Make cavatini

  • 1
    Brown meat in a large skillet: drain.
  • 2
    Add remaining ingredients ( except noodles ) and simmer for 1 hour over low heat.

    Pour over noodles in a large casserole.

    Cover with mozarella and cook until cheese is melted in a ( 350 degree oven.) Great with buttered french bread.
