Ingredients For baked beef ziti

  • 12 oz
    uncooked ziti
  • 1 tsp
    olive oil
  • 2 md
    garlic cloves - minced
  • 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1 tsp
    dried rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt and pepper each
  • 1 jar
    ready made spaghetti sauce (or 28oz can of crushed tomatoes)
  • 1 c
    mozzrella cheese, shredded

How To Make baked beef ziti

    Preheat oven to 350. Cook pasta according to package directions and drain. Set aside.

    Meanwhile, heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat; add garlic and saute 2 minutes. Add beef and cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Drain off any fat.

    Add oregano, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper, stir to coat beef. Cook 2 minutes until herbs become fragrant. Add sauce OR tomatoes, and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

    Spoon small about of tomato mixture in bottom of 3 qt. casserole dish(to keep pasta from sticking). Mix everything together and pour in casserole. Bake 20-25 minutes--cover with foil.
